National Shoot May 2012

National Results May

I hadn’t expected to be attending our National Classification shoot yesterday but due to my newest little niece or nephew taking its time to come into this world I had time to attend the event.

Weather was a little nippy on the trigger finger but as the morning got going I got of to a great start in SBSR knocking over 9 chickens and 10 pigs but as a little anxiety crept in I could only manage to send 6 turkeys scuttling from their feet leaving me with a tally of 25 / 30.

Due to the small numbers in attendance I shot both my events back to back. With a shaky start I popped off my first shot to the right of Mr chicken number 1. With a little position adjustment all 9 remaining chickens responded to my shots as they took flight. In addition 9 pigs fell as I felt a shooting confidence in my position and execution of each shot. As I continued to build a result that I could be happy with turkey talk was awaiting my reply. All in all 8 turkeys spun front their feet to give me a comfortable tally of 26 / 30.

With an end to the days shooting I am now looking forward to June 17th all going well to see if I can top my scores of the day.

Gales, Fractures & No Breaks

Irish National Silhouette Championships

It’s Monday morning and time to reflect on how our National Championships unfolded.

Gales, Fractures & No Breaks

The forecast was not looking good.  We had been warned all week of winds ranging from between Gale Force 5 to 8 becoming widespread throughout the country as the Tail End of Hurricane Katia began to make land fall and cause trouble on the Emmerald Isle.  Strangely enough we were experiencing summer temperatures topping 17 to 18 degrees celcius at the same time.

‘Winner Takes All’ At Euro Champs

Finlands Marko Nikko once again tops the honours list in all 4 rifle events at the European Championships held in Heinola, Finland July 2011.

Currently from the results of European matches there are not many who are close to toppling Marko Nikko from 1st Place.  Marko continues to reign as King at the firing line as consistant scores from others have not fully developed this season.  Is there someone out there that will bring on the pain of a 2nd podium place for Marko, I think there is and guess what they are either Finnish or American!

Alan Shoots A 29 At Nationals

Congratulations To Alan Fitzpatrick of BRC Shooting Club

Unfortunately I was unable to attend the National Silhouette Shoot on Sunday past but on my return to Dublin I learned that Alan Fitzpatrick of BRC Shooting Club ‘who I believe is in the AA Class’ shot a very tidy 29/40 at the event with his CZ452 to secure top honours on the day.

Alan has been Silhouette Shooting for the past 5 years or so and has been in regular attendance at the National Shoots.  Alan should indeed be congratulated for his efforts and success thus far and long may it continue.
