Reality Check – All In The Name Of Progress
Q. Do you mentally prepare for a competitive shoot?
Q. Do you achieve your desired shooting goals and results?
If you answered Yes to any of the above then ask those questions to yourself once again, giving it a little more thought; be honest with your answers.
Q. Do you believe that a change in your preparation and approach will bring added value and higher results to your shooting?
Q. Are you willing to make those changes even if it means sacrificing your current performance in the short term to reach those long term shooting goals?
I Ask Myself !
The above are questions I ask myself regularly. Especially when I experience a drop in performance and results. ‘We can all go along to the range and shoot our regular comfortable scores until the cows come home, without anyone including ourselves questioning it’. What if the shooter next to you questions your drop in results, what excuse from the ever expanding Silhouette book of excuses do you have lined up to tell?
A New Beginning
Go on give something new a try. You never know what scores it might lead to. Try a change in legal footwear, your rifle hold, your breathing, your thought process before and during a match or your physical fitness. Speak with other shooters in your club, go online and join shooting forums as there is a wealth of knowledge out there with tried and tested methods. A little time spent researching can save many hours and rounds of ammo idly wasted at the range.
The definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” – Albert Einstein
