As per the 2011 NSAI shoot calendar, the Irish National Championship Smallbore Rifle Silhouette Competition will be held this coming weekend on Saturday 10th & Sunday 11th of September 2011 at BRC Shooting Club.
There are two events scheduled -
- Smallbore Silhouette Rifle
- Smallbore Hunting Rifle.
Range Opening Time
BRC Shooting Club will be open from 9am on both Days of the Event.
Event Program & Format
The National Championships are a 2 day event and must be attended and shot on both days if you wish to compete for an award.
- Day 1 will consist of 40 Shots in Smallbore Silhouette Rifle and 40 Shots in Smallbore Hunting Rifle.
- Day 2 will consist of 40 Shots in Smallbore Silhouette Rifle and 40 Shots in Smallbore Hunting Rifle.
- If you are entering 1 event then you must shoot 40 shots in that event on Day 1 and 40 shots on Day 2.
- All Shoot-Offs will be shot at the end of Day 2.
Awards
Overall Winner
Will have their name inscribed on the Pepetual Trophy which they will hold for 1 year.
Aggregate Winner
Will have their name inscribed on the Pepetual Trophy which they will hold for 1 year.
Medals
There will be medals for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place overall and 1st, 2nd & 3rd place in Classes from Master to Unclassified in Both SBSR and SBHR.
Note: If you receive a medal for a 1st, 2nd or 3rd place overall you will not receive a medal for your class.
Competition Fee
Entrance Fee is 15 euro if you are entering both events and 10 euro if entering 1 event.
Sighting In
Sighting In will be from approx 9am until 9:40am. No sighting in is permitted after this time. If neccessary competitors will be allocated a 5 minute slot for sighting in if numbers exceed demand at silhouette bay to allow everyone an opportunity to warm up.
Registration
If you have not already registered you will need to do so before the event begins and pay your annual registration fee.
NOTE
BRC have a visitor registration policy in place and this will require all (non BRC members) to fill in a form prior to any visitor(s) shooting on their range. If you fail to provide the necessary details then you will NOT be allowed to shoot on the range.
New Members Welcome
If you are interested in Silhouette Shooting or new to rifle shooting and wish to come along and see how a silhouette event runs then please do so. There are plenty of experienced shooters attending on the day and are happy to talk and give advice on silhouette shooting.
Firearms Control
As always firearms control will be in place and you may be selected for a random firearms check. Please also ensure you have a valid firearms license with you as the Chief Range Officer on the day may ask to see this.

Prior to the first match there will be a safety briefing to all competitors highlighting the new range live fire / cease fire – RED and GREEN lighting system in place.
